Morning report A/324FA for December 22, 1944

Station: 2 1/2 miles west of Gey, Germany, wF0440
Record of events: Btry left position 1 mi East Schevenhutte, Germany and mtr marched 1 1/2 miles to new position at 2 1/2 miles West Gey, Germany. Howitzers went into firing position upon arrival and registered as soon as possible. Local security and guard posts were arranged. Capt Bunno who was working with a little cook stove (Army cooker) was set on fire when something went wrong with stove. 1st Sgt Hoolan & Tec 4 Rakestraw ran over and thre Capt Bunno to the ground and smothered fire with jacked and hands. Capt Bunno was badly burned (2nd degree) all over face, neck & hands, and was immediately removed to 308 Med Bn, by 1sgt Hoolan and Pfc Hazzard first aid man attached to Btry. 1st Lt Bradford assumed duties of Btry Comdr & 2nd Lt Packo assumed duties of Btry Executive O. Btry is billeted in under ground dug outs. Howitzers fired 87 rounds harassing fire & 3 rounds registration. Weather: Rain & sleet. Morale: Excellent.
