Morning report HQ/324FA for October 30, 1944

Station: Berbourg, Luxembourg, wL0326
Record of events: During night of 29 and 30 Oct 44 Forward Observers reported hearing train, small arms fire. Sounds on railroad appeared to be moving of heavy equipment. Sirens and single planes overhead were heard. Flairs were also observed. Baker Observer reported at 0840 mortar fire coming in left of OP. Visibility poor. During day Observers reported enemy activity of men digging in, small arms fire, anti aircraft fire and mortar fire. Highboys were observed from our OPs and BN Area during period. Air OPs grounded by haze and low ceiling. Bn fired three missions on Triers at 0730. Bn CP was visited by Lt Col Skinner. Weather cloudy. Morale excellent. See 1944-10-31 for (more) information.
