Record of events:
Co jumped off in the attack at 1600 28 Dec 44 and reached objective 1700 28 Dec 44 and had been cut off from the rest of the Bn by 1900. Radio contact until 1615 29 Dec 44 last message recd 'need ammunition and reinforcements badly and have three slightly wounded casuialties plus Tiger Tanks firing point blank at position.'. On 30 Dec 44 at 0854 message sent Company position Coordinates 205765 and asked for reinforcements and ammunitions to hold position but ordered to withdraw to high ground in rear of town. Company then put in Bn reserve. Casualties - 6 EM wounded. Company had been cut off for 2 1/2 days from ammunition, food and water. Withdrew from town at 1230 30 Dec 44. Enemy retreated at 0300 30 Dec 44. Size of enemy estimated at 8 Tiger Tanks and 800 Infantrymen. Prisoners brought out with company were 3 Officers and 5 EM. Weather cold and morale of company excellent.
