Record of events:
As of 1 Mar 45 - Company left Gevelsdorf by truck at 0630, and moved on fot to Epsendorf. Initial objective was taken by another unit so company moved to Gefrath. Took 10 prisoners at 1300. Company pushed off in attack and took Lanzerath in 30 minutes. Battery of enemy direct fire weapons 250 yards beyond town fired into town. Artillery observers brought fire on battery, and destroyed at least 2 guns. At 2100 attack was continued NE into city of Neuss, just across river from Dusseldorf. The element of surprise enabled company ambush and capture a group of 56 prisoners who were marching down the road. Shortly after that, an enemy half track towing an 88 gun and 15 enemy soldiers where captured by 2 EM armed with pistols. Several other prisoners were picked up from time to time. Company met only sporadic resistance. Attack was continued and at 0400 the sector was cleared. 2 Mar 45 - Company remained in same position and rested after 22 hours continuous moving. Kept outposts on strategic points. Morale high.
