Morning report HQ2BN/331 for January 14, 1945

Record of events: As of 13 January 1945 Bn jumped off in New attack at 1300 12 Jan 45 with Fox Co leading attack reaching their objective by 1700 12 Jan 45. Easy Co by passed Fox Co's position to the right followed by Co G. Co E encountered stiff opposition and were held up. Co G then flanked Co E's position to the right and continued through out the night encountering no opposition and reaching their objective at 1800 13 Jan 45, traveresed approximately 3 Miles. Co E's enemy strongpoint consisted of 2 tanks and automatic weapons. Co E began attack supported by tanks which were unable to support Co E as originally planned. At 0700 13 Jan 45 Co E again took off continued to meet stiff opposition. The Germans counter attacked Co E at approximately 1400 with 5 tanks and approximately 1 Co of Inf. Co E repulsed the attack at 1700 and completed their advance of 1000 yds at 1700. The Bn was reld and its sector was taken over by 3rd Armd. Co's E, G and H entrucked for Ottre, Belgium and closed into their New area at 2000 in vicinity of rear CP. Bn CP and F Co remained in Bihain for the night. Bn took 200 PW's but they were turned over to IPW of 330th because of the situation. An estimated 200 German casualties were left on the field of battle. Weather very cold and clear with strong prevailing winds. Morale: Good. The forward CP and aid station received heavy shelling form mortars and arty 2 vehicles damaged. As of 14 Jan 45 Bn in Regt'l Reserve. Closed out old Bn CP in Ottre, Belgium at 0945 and moved via motor to New CP at Langlir, Belgium arrived 1015 distance traveled 2 miles. Co's moved out via foot at 0830 to New area arrived 1030. Allied planes bombed and straffed enemy positions nearby. Weather very cold and clear. Morale: Good.
