Morning report HQ2BN/331 for March 1, 1945

Station: Holzheim, Germany, wF2585
Record of events: Closed out old CP at Belmen, Germany and moved to Hemmerden, Germany via truck left at 0245 arrived 0400. Distance traveled approximately 5 miles. Bn jumped off at 0500 meeting little resistance but encountered heavvy mine fields on the roads, casualties light. Enemy launches counter attacks with several tanks and one company of Infantry came in behind forward group and attacking companies from crossroads the Co's had passed two hours previously. This enemy combat team shelled the town of Hemmerden heavily and caused numerous light casualties. Several vehicles were mine casualties. Bn elements made good progress in their advance, meeting little resistnace. E and G Co's took the town of Holzheim and at 1500 part of the Rear CP group moved up via motor and opened new CP at 1620. Balance of group moved out at 1600 and arrived new CP at 1700 traveled 5 miles. Co E cleared towns of Trockensuft, Rockrath and Loveling and halted advance to outpost the latter. Weather overcast and rainy. Morale Good. POW's captured 249. Killed 10.
