Morning report B/331 for March 2, 1945

Record of events:
1 Mar 45 Co left Hemmerden at 0145 and proceeded by foot to assembly area in the vicinity of Damm. During the heavy march fire was encountered from tanks and 88's. Men were well dispersed and suffered no casualties. The Co was given the special mission of crossing the Nord Canal. Riding tanks TD's and trucks the Co proceeded to Gefrath and mopped up the town after A Co had first entered the town at 1200. The co continued on and stopped at Baxhaf while a patrol leading the way captured 3 dug-in 88's, 2 trucks and 16 PW's. At 1400 the Co reached Buttgen and set up a road block. The 1st platoon crossed the Nord Canal at 2000 and set up road blocks at Hinterfuld. During the day the Co witnessed 8 German planes shot down. 2 Mar 45 Co remained in Buttgen maintaining road blocks across the Nord Canal.
