Record of events:
Bn in direct support of 331st Inf in VII Corps, First Army, XIIst Arm Grp in attack on Ronce River line. 3rd Bn attacked at 1115 followed by 2nd Bn at 1315. Inf advanced approximately 500 yards toward river at close of period. No enemy air activity during period. Hq Btry, Ln Sec #3 lost one 1/4 ton C and R vehicle due to enemy shell fire in fwd area. Btry A also lost one 1/4 ton C and R on OP. Weather: Cloudy and cold. Health of Command: Good. The common cold quite prevalent among comd. Bn Surg has initiated steps to control disease, units are furnishing more hot drinks as a preventative. Pyramidal tents furnished as warming rooms. Morale: Excellent. Casualties: Sgt Thomas H Smith, 34455534, Hq Btry LWA, left thumb by shell fragment (remained duty). Entitled to oak leaf cluster.
